Eid prayers at 520 mosques, grounds
Doha: Qatar is ready to celebrate Eid Al Fitr with traditional religious gaiety and fervour. As many as 520 mosques and prayer grounds have been prepared for Eid Al Fitr prayer. Public parks, beaches and other picnic points have been readied to receive the visitors during the holidays.
The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has announced that 520 mosques and prayer grounds across the country will host Eid Al Fitr congregations. The Eid prayer will be held at 5:12am.
To accommodate the maximum number of worshipers, more than one places have been provided in each area.
For example, Ain Khalid will have 14 mosques and prayer grounds for Eid Al Fitr prayer. Freej bin Mahmoud, Freej bin Omran and Freej bin Abdul Aziz each got four places.
Eid congregations will be held at eight and nine places in Madinat Khalifa and Mesaimeer respectively. Three mosques in Hamad International Airport (HIA) area will host Eid prayer.
As many as 18 mosques and prayer ground have been prepared in Muaither. Nuaija, Najma and Mushaireb get 7, 4 and 3 mosques and prayer grounds respectively.
Onaiza gets five places for Eid Al Fitr prayer, while Al Wakra and Al Wukair will have 8 and 12 mosques and prayer grounds respectively.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Municipality represented by the General Cleanliness Department has launched a campaign to clean Eid Al Fitr prayer grounds across the country.
The cleaning drive covered all municipalities including Doha, Al Khor and Al Zakhira, Al Shamal, Al Wakra, Al Daayen, Al Sheehaniya, Umm Salal and Al Rayyan where a large number of prayer grounds have been prepared.
The Ministry of Municipality has urged citizens and expatriates to cooperate with cleaning teams and maintain hygiene at public places by disposing of waste at designated areas. The Ministry has also provided a hotline 184 where people can contact. Doha Municipality conducted a drive to disinfect all mosques and prayer grounds across the municipality.
The disinfection drive covered facilities of mosques and prayer grounds including open areas and toilets to ensue the health of worshipers.
The General Cleanliness Department at the Ministry of Municipality also launched drives to clean public places, gathering points, beaches and public parks to welcome people during Eid holidays.
Under a complete action plan, the Department deployed cleaning teams comprising supervisors, workers and necessary equipment to conduct the cleaning operation round the clock during holidays.
Additional garbage containers have been placed at places frequented by public.
Public Park Section of Al Rayyan Municipality has readied all its parks to receive visitors during Eid holidays from 5am to 1am.
Al Shamal Municipality has announced to open public parks from 8am to 12noon during holidays.
