Qatar Airways with four other airlines to organise match day shuttle service during World Cup

Doha: Qatar Airways along with four other Arab airlines plan to “join hands” to organise a match day shuttle service to Qatar during the World Cup 2022, according to an announcement by Qatar Airways at a news conference in Doha.

“We’re joining hands with key Gulf Cooperation Council carriers as part of the commitment to make the 1st-ever FIFA World Cup in the Middle East a truly special one,” said Qatar Airways on Twitter. 

Qatar Airways in cooperation with Kuwait Airways, Oman Air, Fly Dubai, and Saudia, will be collectively hosting day trip shuttle flights from Dubai, Muscat, Kuwait City, Jeddah & Riyadh for fans who have secured FIFA match tickets, stated the Qatar Airways Group CEO Akbar Al Baker. 

Akbar Al Baker also said that Etihad, Air Arabia may join the Gulf Arab Airlines Agreement to organise shuttle service to Qatar.

Fly Dubai will offer up to 60 daily flights with 30 daily rotations bringing up to 2,700 fans per day, Kuwait Airways are set to operate a total of 20 flights with 10 rotation providing enough capacity for up to 1,700 fans daily, and Oman Air will offer up to 48 flights with 24 rotations, bringing up to 3,400 day-trip fans.

Meanwhile Saudia will operate up to 60 daily flights between Riyadh and Jeddah with 30 rotations added the Qatar Airways Group CEO. 

He further added that these flights will be specially timed to allow a seamless experience for fans from start to finish and with no luggage, they will be able to quickly start their day in Doha.
